26th September 2025 – Hoddesdon

Cygnets are starting to fly and so we are getting lots of calls, Gill was called out to a cygnet trapped behind a fence at Hoddesdon Film Studios. The Security guard let her in to get to the bird and they went to the rear of the Studios to find the cygnet trapped behind a fence. The guard used his strength to force his way thought the fence and he was given a crash course (no pun intended) on how to handle and bag up the cygnet. The cygnet was then handed back through the fence but now the adrenaline had worn out the guard could not get back through the fence, even after removing his bulky clothing. Undeterred he climbed a tree and swung back over the fence and then carried the bird back a kilometre and a half to the ambulance. From our point of view he should be starring in films rather than securing the gate ! Our thanks to him and Hoddesdon Studios for helping and access to the site. The cygnet was brought back to The Swan Sanctuary to go with some other unsuccessful flyers.
