How did you get there ?

Shepperton 26th April 2025

We do very occasionally get called out to a ‘swan stuck in a tree’ but most often they have sorted themselves out before we get there as a swan is not known as a perching bird. In this case the call was from concerned citizens at Shepperton Marina and it was well and truly stuck. Up a tree on an island steeply banked all around. Sally is always one to accept a challenge and so donning waders and in the kayak (no mean feat in itself) she managed to get onto the island and free the cygnet from its predicament. It will be with us for a few days to recover but despite appearances in the photographs it was not badly injured and is expected to make a full recovery.

Gently does it
